The MCF Path to Ownership Program is designed for individuals who are new to horses or looking to build a solid foundation before leasing or owning their own. This program provides a hands-on, real-world approach to learning in a working barn environment. Our goal is simple: to prepare you to confidently step into horse ownership or leasing with the knowledge and experience to do it right.
What You’ll Learn
This program focuses on practical, everyday horsemanship — not just time in the saddle. You’ll learn how to safely handle and work around horses, build confidence in riding, understand horse behavior, and develop a strong foundation in daily care and responsibility. Because this is a working environment, what you learn will naturally reflect what’s happening at the barn — giving you real exposure to day-to-day horse care and situations.
Program Structure
The MCF Path to Ownership Program is designed to be hands-on, flexible, and realistic. Participants attend 2–3 sessions per week, scheduled throughout the week. Instruction may be one-on-one or in a small group setting depending on the day and participation. This is not a step-by-step or classroom-style program. Learning is organic and based on what’s going on at Mine Creek Farms whether that’s daily care, handling, riding, or other real-life situations that come with managing horses.

Program Tuition
$550/month
The program is offered on a month-to-month basis, allowing participants to progress at their own pace. Some may feel ready after a shorter time, while others may choose to stay longer to continue building skills and experience. Participants may attend up to 2–3 sessions per week as part of the program.This program is designed to provide the knowledge, experience, and confidence needed to step into horse ownership or leasing the right way. A one-month commitment is required to start. Continued enrollment is billed monthly based on availability.
Important Notes
This program is not designed as an open riding or drop-in program. All sessions are scheduled and structured to ensure safety, consistency, and progression.Our lease horses are reserved for intermediate to advanced riders who can safely and independently handle and ride without assistance. The Path to Ownership Program is the first step toward reaching that level.
